About the Evening

Winter’s Rest has become a yearly moment to exhale together: a gentle, nourishing pause before the Christmas rush. This will be our third year in the church and the space is perfect – soft acoustics, warm lighting, and the Christmas tree adding a quiet glow.

The Yoga session is designed to help you settle, reflect, and soften into the turning of the season. We’ll explore:

Slow Yoga & Restorative shapes to release tension and support deep ease

Breath practices that invite steadiness and spaciousness

A short guided relaxation or nidra inspired by solstice themes

Simple reflection prompts to honour the year that’s passing and welcome the return of the light

We end with homemade cakes, warm drinks, and the gentle feeling of community before heading back into the evening.

What to Bring

Lots of Warm layers and cosy socks

A Yoga mat, cushion and blanket (extras provided if needed)

Optional Solstice Walk

On Sunday 21 December, weather permitting, you’re welcome to join a simple sunrise walk up Mam Tor. It’s a steady half-hour up hill walk, warm layers and warm drink essential, and a lovely way to mark the solstice turn.
