Description

Women in PR will celebrate its first anniversary on Friday 8th March, International Women’s Day 2019, and you are invited to join us in the Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings, Stormont, to reflect on our successes from the past year.

Women in PR was set up to explore the issues and barriers that affect women working in the communications industry and to identify solutions. Over the past year we have worked to enable women to fulfil their potential by delivering a bespoke programme and availing of the expertise and support of other women.

To celebrate this, we are honoured to be welcoming the US Consul General, Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, to our event.

In Conversation with Natasha Sayee, the US Consul will share her story and insights with local women.

Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau assumed her duties as US Consul General in Belfast in September last year. Prior to that she was the US Consul General in Lahore, Pakistan. Prior to her role in Pakistan, she served as the Department of State’s Director for Press Operations and as a Department spokesperson in Washington, DC.

Ms. Trudeau’s other assignments include serving as the Counsellor for Public Affairs at the US Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, Belgium; a seconded senior advisor and chief of staff to the Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy on NATO’s International Staff, also in Brussels; and spokesperson and press attaché at the US Mission to South Africa in Pretoria. She also served in Tunis, Tunisia, and Nairobi, Kenya.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 2004, Ms. Trudeau was the Director of Communications for a private charitable foundation, and before that served as the director of development at a local non-governmental organisation.

The event is being sponsored in the Long Gallery by Michaela Boyle (SF), MLA for West Tyrone and co-sponsored by Paula Bradley (DUP), MLA for North Belfast, and Rosemary Barton (UUP) MLA Fermanagh/South Tyrone, members of the Women’s Caucus at the Assembly.

Women in PR events would not be possible without generous sponsorship from our hosts and facilitators, and we are delighted that RNN Communications has chosen to support us on International Women’s Day 2019.

Founder Riki Neill says: “An award-winning integrated PR consultancy, RNN Communications delivers solutions in NI & ROI through intelligent, creative and engaging communications. As a member of Women in PR, RNN Comms is seriously proud to be supporting this year’s Women in PR NI’s International Women’s Day event and helping to further the message #BalanceforBetter”.
