Description

At this session, we’ll discuss how to build a diverse team, fight unconscious bias and create an inclusive working environment. Hear from local companies who have been championing diversity in their workplace and get practical advice, plus actionable tips that will positively impact diversity in your company.

Studies have shown the most successful companies progress by having access to the widest pool of talent. Diversity breeds innovation and by fostering an inclusive workplace, your company will prove more adaptable to an ever-changing business environment.

So if you are interested in tackling the issues around diversity in the workplace, responsible for HR or just want to build the best team possible - this session is for you!

We'll be joined by:

Claire Hopkins, Founding Director of Ideal

Claire Hopkins is Founding Director of Ideal, an IT company which designs, provides and manages secure IT infrastructure. Ranked by Tech Track as one of Britain’s fastest growing private technology companies for the last 2 years, Claire created a company with a culture of excellence, combining customer-focused account management with a highly skilled in-house engineering group. New to IT when she founded Ideal, Claire brought fresh eyes to the industry and has campaigned to encourage more women in IT, tackling everyday sexism in the industry and promoting diversity.

Lucy Rennison, Human Resources Manager at Fresh Egg

Lucy began her career as an account manager for the marketing company Merchandising Sales Force, managing field marketing for multiple big name brands. From here, she moved to Green Wright Chalton Annis Solicitors and trained as a legal executive, completing her ILEX Level 3 and Level 6 qualifications and gaining strong knowledge of employment law. In 2012, Lucy moved to Fresh Egg, initially as a director’s PA. She was promoted to HR manager after achieving her CIPD certificate in Human Resource Practice and is now able to combine the different and complementary elements of her wider skill set and bring a wealth of experience to this role.

Ray Richard, Co-Founder of Do Something Different

In 2010, together with Professor Ben (C) Fletcher and Professor Karen Pine, Ray founded Do Something Different with the intention of helping people break the habits that limit them. Since then the company has worked with innovators from Public Health, CCG's and Corporates such as Cisco and PwC to tackle health and wellbeing related habits including unconscious bias using the Do Something Different Behaviour Change Platform.

The Wired Sussex Breakfast Sessions share best practice on subjects ranging from marketing and branding, to intellectual property and investment opportunities. And there’s coffee and croissants too. What’s not to like?
