Wired Sussex Open Studio: Don't Get a Job....Make a Job with Gem Barton
Tue 6 September 2016, 15:30 – 17:30 BST
As part of Open Studios week Wired Sussex have invited Gem Barton the author of ‘Don’t Get a Job...Make a Job’ to talk about modern strategies and approaches required to find work and ‘make it’ in the creative/digital & tech sector.
In the modern digital age employers are no longer always reliant on Job Ads, CVs and Application Forms as tools for finding staff. Traditional office based environments and even types of employment are now even being challenged and the savvy jobseeker will need to change tactics too.
This is a chance to learn about new ways of making opportunities for yourself by applying different skills across the creative disciplines of art, design and tech.
Gem Barton will be discussing using social media, networking and others tools you might adopt.. She will be looking into modern approaches to carve out unique routes into the digital, creative and tech sector as well as sharing case studies and inspirational advice.
Whether you are a student looking for inspiration and advice, a recent grad wanting to kick start your career, or someone in the industry looking to branch out and utilise your broad skill set – this is for you.
