As part of #BDFOpenStudios week, Wired Sussex and a range of guest speakers will be sharing practical advice, tips and modern strategies to finding work and getting ahead in the digital sector.
We’ll discuss the broad range of careers available, offer practical advice on how to find new work opportunities, stand out from the crowd and connect with the right people.
Whether you are a student looking for inspiration, a recent grad wanting to kick start your career, or someone looking to branch out and utilise your broad skill set – this event is for you.

Rebecca Groves, Head of Projects at Wired Sussex
Rebecca has worked in a variety of roles across the creative and digital industries over the past 10 years. After landing an internship with a major Hollywood film company she began her career as a TV runner and worked her way up to an award-wining independent Producer. Since leaving film production she has worked for film and games membership organisations; The Producers’ Forum and The British Film Institute. She now works as Head of Projects for Wired Sussex.
Zara Syversen, Front End Developer at Gene
Zara joined GENE Commerce with a diverse background spanning design, communications and development. Having gained a degree in Visual Communication and Design from Karlstads University, Zara went on to study Web Design at Hove College. To further pursue this passion, Zara started attending Codebar to continue learning and build up her portfolio to apply for jobs. Thanks to the connections made through Codebar, she managed to get her first junior role as a web developer. She decided to help others and volunteered to co-organise and coach for Codebar.
Sam Colebrook, Content Strategist at iCrossing
After graduating with a first-class honours degree in English Literature, Sam enrolled on an internship with iCrossing and began his digital career.
In the three years since, Sam has developed industry leading expertise in search & content marketing, helping improve rankings and drive traffic for major blue chip and financial clients, including Barclays, Barclaycard, Heathrow, and EDF Energy
