Wirral Digital Donations - Help Keep Kids Learning – donate a device

About this Event

Booking Declaration

The IT devices being donated will be formatted by 3rd party technicians and passed to schools in your area to be used by children learning from home.

You are advised to remove all accounts and personal data prior to donation.

By donating IT devices, you agree that data on the device will be lost and cannot be recovered in the future and that you have the authorisation for all data to be removed when the device is reset to factory settings.

You also acknowledge that the equipment is solely owned by you or you have the agreement of any joint owners to donate the equipment.

Drop off is at Cheshire Lines Building, Birkenhead. Free parking is available in the Cheshire Lines car park on Shore Road. Access is via the West Wing doors (as you look at the building from Canning street, this is the double door is on the far left), where there will be a door bell. Please use this bell and wait for a member of staff to come out to collect your device. To limit time in the building a declaration will be emailed to you on the email you used for Eventbrite. Please complete this declaration and return it via email prior to your drop-off. The handover of the device(s) will take place as quick as possible. Please do not arrive any later than 10 minutes after you chosen time. When dropping off a device, please follow COVID-19 safety procedures, keep your distance, wear a face covering (unless you’re exempt) and sanitise your hands before and after you've been to the centre to deliver your device. If you or someone in your household are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms - a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of sense of taste or smell - or are feeling unwell, please do not attend your appointment and reschedule.

Residents and businesses who have spare IT kit are being encouraged to consider donating it to a council scheme to help Wirral’s children and young people keep learning at home.

With many pupils now needing to learn remotely due to the latest lockdown, not all children and young people have access to the right devices to allow them to continue their education.

Wirral Council has set up a device donation initiative - ‘Keep Kids Learning’ – to give businesses and residents the ability to donate any spare kit they may have, or make financial donations to help buy new devices or Wi-Fi dongles for children in need.

Please remember that to be donated devices must:

- Be in a good working condition.

- Have the relevant charger included.

- Have all personal details and files removed (advice on how to do this can be found on the National Cyber Security Centre website on the following link: National Guidance )
