About this event

The WISE ‘My Skills My Life’ campaign

This campaign is a research-based approach that aims to challenge the perceptions of STEM careers with school age girls. The best way for women and girls to see themselves working in a STEM role is through having inspirational STEM role models.

‘There is a clear link between role models and an increased passion for Science, technology and maths subjects, with more interest in careers in these fields and greater self-confidence’ (Microsoft, 2018)

WISE have developed a resource that allows girls to find out about their preferred personality types and matches them with role models who have rewarding and successful careers in STEM. We have an online platform featuring over 1,000 women working in STEM, accessible at www.myskillsmylife.org.uk. The online platform is accompanied by a set of resources, which allow you to run My Skills My Life sessions within your schools. This includes completing the My Skills My Life quiz to discover which personality types the pupils are, and then gives them opportunity to read about or meet real women working in the industry.

This interactive session will talk you through the resources, providing you with the tools and knowledge to be able to run My Skills My Life sessions in your school – increasing awareness of careers in STEM, smashing stereotypes and opening doors for the next generation.
