How to become a menopause diverse employer

As part of WISH’s International Women’s Day week-long celebrations we’ll be hosting the final menopause event in a series providing people working in social housing with the space to come together to talk, share, learn and create change relating to the menopause. The event is aimed at HR professionals, managers and senior leaders and is open to all genders.

Why

1 in 4 women think about giving up work because of the impact of the menopause on their ability to work and the feelings about themselves. In the Social Housing Sector — where 70% of employees are women — this is bad news. Housing Association need to ensure that they are becoming menopause diverse and inclusive employers to ensure that people don’t feel a sense of embarrassment. So the menopause is no loner a taboo and women are supported and continue their careers.

The event

We'll be joined by five brilliant guest speakers:

- Sharon Macarthur, Miss Menopause, will explain the importance of organisations starting their journey to become menopause diverse and inclusive employers, and provide practice advice about delivering this.

- Liz Thompson, Thirteen Group’s Head of HR Business Partnering will share Thirteen Group’s menopause journey to date including that has worked and what is next.

- Lisa Winward, Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police and Chair of the National Menopause Action Group will share the great work the police have been doing nationally.

- Vanessa Pritchard-Wilkes, Housing 21’s Head of Strategic Engagement will share why menopause matters at Housing 21.

- Jeanette Jackson, Manchester Stress Institute, will share practical advice organisations can share with their workforce.

There will be a chance to ask questions during the event, and we'll be providing a practical toolkit for attendees to use after the event.
