The leisure and tourism industry is a fast moving and customer-driven environment. Consumers today have a wealth of information and reviews at their fingertips, and businesses must work harder and harder to stand out from the crowd.

Savills 2017 Megatrends in Travel research found that Europe will be the preferred destinations for senior travellers from Asia and the Middle East. With the freedom to travel out of the peak season, silver travellers will have the time and money to fill the quiet seasons.

One of the biggest trends to expect is that ethical and green travel will no longer be a niche area of the travel industry but will be increasingly intertwined with our everyday travel choices. Tourists will be better informed, and therefore, more demanding when choosing sustainable hotels and travel options

Wish You Were Here will bring together businesses and tourism industry experts to explore the latest consumer trends in tourism, and how local businesses can make the most of new opportunities.

We’ll cover:

  • The latest consumer trends in tourism

  • How to manage your environmental footprint

  • Communicating your success stories

  • Case study: how focusing on sustainable food, made using local ingredients, helped one business to stand out from the crowd

  • How you can access grants and free business growth support

Who’s it for?
Wish You Were Here is exclusively for businesses in East Sussex.

  • Hotels and B&Bs

  • Restaurants and cafes

  • Tourist attractions

  • Cultural businesses

Don’t get left behind, join us on 20th March at the fabulous De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill for a unique lunchtime session to inform and inspire you. Your ticket includes talks by national and local businesses and plenty of time to enjoy a locally sourced lunch.

Run in partnership with Visit England.

Attendance is free and includes lunch. Places are limited and this session is likely to be popular. To secure your place a £10 (refundable) deposit is required when booking. Deposits from those not able to attend will be donated to Surfers Against Sewage, a marine conservation charity working with communities to tackle plastic pollution and protect the UK's coastlines.
