Event description

Description

The city of Exeter is the last place in England where people are known to have been hanged for the alleged crime of witchcraft. Mark Stoyle will be telling us the stories of some of the unfortunate men and women who were denounced as witches to the city's magistrates between 1558 and 1660.

Professor Mark Stoyle from the University of Southampton is well known in Exeter for his popular lectures covering a multitude of subjects and he specialises in cultural, ethnic and religious identity in Wales and Cornwall. His latest visit is most welcome.
