RCN Scotland Public Debate

Without nursing…….

It’s hard to imagine a world without nursing.

Nursing teams are there when you need them – providing varied, complex and skilled care with compassion and helping you through. When nurses disappear so does patient safety and quality of care.

The headlines tell us there is a nursing crisis, health boards and care homes struggle to fill vacancies, many in our current nursing teams are reaching retirement, pay and workload pressures are affecting the number of people choosing nursing and caring as a career.

So - what can we do? How do we secure safe, high quality nursing care for our loved ones and ourselves when we need it?

The Royal College of Nursing Scotland presents an evening of discussion looking at the role of nursing in caring for our communities today and how we ensure we have the nursing teams we need to provide care in the future.

Chaired by Shelley Jofre, BBC Scotland’s Health and Social Care correspondent, the panel – featuring patients and experts including Theresa Fyffe, Director RCN Scotland – will discuss these issues and answer questions from the audience.

Panel debate followed by a drinks reception. Open to all.

There will also be an opportunity to view items from the Royal College of Nursing Archives, dedicated to the history of the nursing profession.
