Event description
A warm welcome to all healthcare professionals interested in progressing supportive and palliative care research in the West Midlands

About this Event

This is a great opportunity to share original research and best practice with peers.

Chaired by Dr Jon Tomas and Dr Hazel Coop, invited speakers include: Professor Sam Ahmedzai, Dr Sarah Boddy, Rebecca Burt, Dr Andrew Davies, Dr Sarah Mitchell (TBC), Dr Sue Neilson and Dr Jo Poultney. The day will be opened by Pauline Boyle, Chief Operating Officer, NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands

The showcase is free to attend by registering on Eventbrite and lunch is provided. It has proved to be a very popular event so we kindly ask that should you be unable to attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to allow others on the waiting list to join the event. You may also contact the event administrator, Margaret Brammeld, on 01902 44 7203 or email margaret.brammeld@nihr.ac.uk

For those travelling to the event by car, please be advised that parking within the hospital grounds is limited and we are unable to reimburse parking fees. You may wish to consider an alternative mode of transport. Taxis from Wolverhampton train station should cost around £6-8. A regular bus service is also available.

We would like to invite all delegates to apply to share research on the day by submitting an abstract, along with your preference of a poster presentation, an oral presentation or both. We would like to see examples of research, audit, quality improvement projects or innovative ideas that have improved supportive and palliative care locally.

For poster presentations, one of the authors needs to be present on the day.

For oral presentations, the author who will be delivering the short presentation on the afternoon of the showcase should be specified at the time of abstract submission.

Abstracts should contain no more than 250 words and should have a standard format of background, methodology, results and conclusion.

Successful applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the end of August 2020.

To request an abstract application form please email margaret.brammeld@nihr.ac.uk or telephone 01902 44 7203. Please submit your abstract for consideration no later than 5pm 17 July 2020.

Please ensure you book yourself a place at the research showcase because spaces may fill up before the abstract submission deadline.

CPD points have been applied for.
