The story of 5G has only just begun. West Midlands 5G (WM5G), in partnership with Birmingham City University (BCU) and Ericsson, would like to invite you to discover the very latest the technology has to offer.

Experience the superfast speeds, reliable connectivity and the endless possibilities that 5G can offer at a series of events taking place this September (10-12th) at Millennium Point, Birmingham.

Pipes in the Wall – 3D Augmented Reality

This demo superimposes images through 5G-enabled Augmented Reality (AR), letting users ‘see’ what’s inside a wall, delivering new views for construction workers.

Mixed Reality – Urbanisation

Experience a ‘live’ AR-visualisation of the digital twin of an actual city, including animated weather and transport. The 360° mixed reality experience places proposed developments amongst an existing cityscape.

Cloud Robotics – Tower of Hanoi

5G’s low latency enables robot control systems to be virtualised within factories, reducing costs and floor space requirements. This demo showcases industrial robots performing the Tower of Hanoi problem.

SmartHabits – Home Care Assistance System

Elderly single-person households are on the rise. SmartHabits is a 5G-enabled system capable of letting you know if your loved one is okay. Using Internet of Things (IoT) connected sensors and cloud technology, the demo can communicate this.

A day in the Life – with 5G

Understand the potential 5G has to affect your day-to-day life. Through a Virtual Reality (VR) headset, you can explore the inside of a car, stadium and high street using consumer lab data to educate you.
