Title: How WM5G has transformed the region’s health tech sector
Location: Online – Zoom
We are delighted to be joined by West Midlands 5G. West Midlands 5G (WM5G) was established through The Department for Culture, Media & Sports (DCMS) Urban Connected Communities Project to accelerate the benefits of 5G throughout the West Midlands when West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) won the bid to become the UK’s first large scale 5G testbed.
WM5G manages a number of projects to speed up the launch of 5G networks and test, prove and scale up new 5G products and services – for local people, public services and businesses. WM5G works in partnership with public and private sector organisations to deliver these projects.
WM5G is all about delivering real benefits for people and businesses and strengthen the West Midlands’ position as the hub of the UK’s 5G ecosystem.
About the speakers:
Adrian Smith
Head of Digital Transformation, NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit
Health Solutions Lead, West Midlands 5G Limited
Adrian describes his twin passions as transforming Education and Healthcare and is happiest when the two come together. Inside the NHS he has a digital transformation role but is also leading the flagship WM5G healthcare transformation programme. He is convinced that reliable, ubiquitous connectivity is the key enabler on the journey to shift care from the clinic into the community and home – and he has spent the past six years developing a number of initiatives that demonstrate this. AI and innovative data analytic approaches are also in the mix.
Ben Turner
Communications & Engagement Manger, West Midlands 5G Limited (WM5G)
Born and raised in the West Midlands, Ben has a keen drive and passion for ensuring that the region is at the forefront of digital technology and innovation. At WM5G, Ben is responsible for the communication of the organisation’s success stories, and engaging with audiences to raise awareness of technology and its transformational benefits. Ben is passionate about building strong relationships, and this partnership approach combined with the region’s diverse range of talent will ensure the West Midlands continues to be one of the UK’s leading regions in this sector.
