Event description

Description

On this walk we will be visiting some of the key sites that provide the settings for scenes in Hilary Mantel's prize winning novels, 'Wolf Hall' and 'Bring Up The Bodies' subsequently adapted for television . As well as revisiting the story we will provide additional background and context to the events and personalities from this dramatic period of English and European history.

The walk will be approximately two hours. Starting at 11 AM and will all be in the City of London.

Amongst the sites we will visit

* The monastery that provided the dramatic divorce hearing between Henry and Katherine of Aragon
* The riverside quarters raided by Thomas More rooting out Lutheran literature
* The site of the scaffold where the Nun Elizabeth Barton abjured her prophecies
* The location of Thomas Cromwell's home in the City, Austin Friars.

So whether you have read the novels or only seen the television series but are curious to find out more then please sign up and come along. Precise joining details will be sent nearer the time.

Jeff Riley is a qualified London guide under the auspices of London's Hackney Carriage Drivers Association
