About this event

Sports & Fitness • Cycling

QQoM invite women cyclists of all standards to participate in these friendly coached sessions. Our team of British Cycling trained coaches will help you progress from wherever you are with your bike handling and cycling skills right now.

Sessions cater for all abilities - we will run two groups each week. Group A is for beginner and intermediate cyclists and Group B is for more advanced cyclists.

Group A sessions are coached from 6:30-7:30pm. Everyone is very welcome to stay and have free time practising skills or rodong to improve their fitness until 8.30pm.

Group B sessions will be coached from 6:30-8:30pm to allow additional time for fitness development work within the sessions.

Group A sessions will be planned to enable participants to improve a range of skills, whether that means learning to ride your bike, using your gears confidently, learning to drink while riding, improving your bike handling skills for road cycling, riding one handed to indicate, or learning to ride in a group.

The Group A sessions will focus on the skills outlined in the image attached so you can see what to expect each week.

Group B sessions will be flexible based on discussion with participants to accommodate their current needs.

Book for individual sessions for £5 each, or book 5 for the discounted rate of £20!

Under 18s are free - riders aged 12-15 need to be accompanied by an adult (the adult can be a participant in the session or a spectator.)

Please don't hesitate to contact the club if you have any questions via our Queensbury Queens of the Mountain Facebook page, or email Lucy on lucyannehall@gmail.com.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to bring?

A roadworthy, safe bike and a helmet, comfortable clothing and trainers or bike shoes.

Do I need to ride if I'm bringing my daughter who is under 18?

No, parents do not have to ride but each under 16 rider needs a responsible adult on site at Wyke for the duration of the session (or until your child decides she has is ready to stop, which may be before the 2 hours are up.)

What qualifications do your coaches have?

All our coaches are British Cycling and/or ABCC qualified, either with the Introduction to Coaching qualification. Our lead coach is ABCC Level 3 qualified.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Wyke sports village will advise if conditions are too bad to cycle; we will move indoors and do cycle maintenance and ride planning sessions if this is ever the case.
