Event description

Description

This talk will take a closer look at women and their rise in the theatrical profession. From early actresses such as Nell Gwyn to Charlotte Charke to Marie Lloyd. We explore themes of femininity, cross-dressing, and actor-managers, ending with the arrival of the Theatres Act in 1968 which abolished censorship of the stage. It will include a tour of our current exhibition Life on the London Stage.
