About this event

Spirituality • Christianity

1700 years ago, the first Ecumenical Council took place in the imperial palace at Nicaea. Christian bishops gathered from Egypt, the Roman Orient, Asia Minor and beyond, and ruled that Jesus, the Son of God, truly was God, 'true God from true God', 'homoousios with the Father'.

But where were the women? And where are they now in the worldwide Christian celebrations of this event taking place in 2025?

Join us for an-all women panel of historians, theologians and Classicists asking these questions and offering our answers!

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.

Professor Lucy Grig (Professor of the History of Late Antiquity)
