You are invited to attend the opening of the Women at UCL: Presence and Absence Exhibition to mark International Women’s Day 2016, 9th March, 12:00-14:00 in the North Cloisters. The exhibition will be exploring the presence and absence of women at UCL. In 1878 UCL became the first university in England to admit women on equal terms with men. Join us to explore what roles and spaces these first women occupied, and how this has changed since 1878, and celebrate the diversity of UCL’s current female staff and students. This exhibition is a collaboration between the UCL Equalities and Diversity team, The Girl at the Door and the UCL Institute for Women’s Health.

The Exhibition will profile 24 women from across UCL. Staff and students were invited to nominate women at UCL who had inspired or encouraged them. We have been overwhelmed by the response and received over 200 nominations. The panel found choosing 24 from so many wonderful nominations very difficult – so to celebrate the contribution all of these women have made and the impact they have had on colleagues and students, we will be putting together a booklet – to find out more please do come along to the event on the 9th.

Also at this event – IWD Story Booth: Have you got a story to tell about women’s presence and absence at UCL? An idea about how we could move towards greater gender equality?
