Women Entrepreneurship: Pushing the Boundaries

Part of our International Women's Day celebrations at London South Bank University (LSBU), this event will celebrate the successes of women in entrepreneurship through an exciting panel discussion followed by a personal branding workshop.

The panel discussion will feature three LSBU graduates currently on our Graduate Entrepreneur Scheme:
- Alessia Sannazzaro, co-founder of Code and Wander
Soon after graduating with an Masters in Engineering Design and Innovation, Alessia co-founded Choosic, an award-winning music discovery app. After gaining recognition for her success from the likes of NACUE Varsity Pitch, Get In The Ring and the London Entrepreneurs Challenge, she joined a digital agency in London to work with top brands in creating digital products and strategies. Alessia has recently co-founded a new business called Code & Wander, a digital agency with a travelling twist which sets to grow notably.
- Emilie Mendy, founder of Bizzie Bodies
- Nana Koomson, founder of Ethic Digital
Nana is the founder of Ethic Digital, a digital communication agency for charities. Prior to that she worked in communications and marketing within the charity sector and served as an Enterprise Ambassador at LSBU. She has helped a number of small charities to understand and grow their organisation through the use of social media. Nana is passionate about sharing her knowledge of social media with charities to help them thrive in a digital world to maximise their social impact. She has a Master's degree in Marketing from LSBU and is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD).
All three of our female entrepreneurs will be sharing their personal stories around starting their own businesses, overcoming barriers along the way and their inspirations.
Personal Branding Workshop
The personal branding workshop will be led by Kaitlin Zhang, a first year Business student at LSBU.
Kaitlin Zhang is an award-winning personal branding consultant, helping entrepreneurs, executives and celebrities to manage their online reputation. She is also a speaker at O2, Google, NatWest and InnovateUK.
Summary of the workshop:

1. Pitch: Craft a winning pitch that gets you noticed
2. Profile: Present the best of you with photos and videos
3. Platform: Build a killer website that converts visitors into customers
4. Promote: Grow your influence and your following
5. Partnership: Establish yourself as a thought-leader

What do you need to bring to the workshop, in order to participate fully:
- Pen and paper for notetaking
- Laptop, tablet or smart phone for Internet research
- Business cards if applicable
Student Enterprise organise events, workshops and start-up schemes to help LSBU students and recent graduates develop skills and start or grow their own businesses.

*What is the Certificate in Enterprise?
LSBU students and alumni can obtain a Certificate in Enterprise by taking part in six Student Enterprise activities throughout the academic year. Please ensure that you sign in on the registration sheet when you arrive and at the end of the session, get a stamp on your Loyalty Card to help you to keep track of the events you’ve attended.
*What is the Student Enterprise Award?
New for this academic year! LSBU students can obtain a Student Enterprise Award that demonstrates their commitment to developing their skills and focusing on their future goals. Students must have already gained a Certificate in Enterprise before starting work on their Award. You can complete the Award across the duration of your degree, building your skills and knowledge throughout your time at LSBU.

I am not a Student or Alumni of LSBU. Can I still attend the event?
Yes, our events are open to members of the public. All we ask is that you come with the willingness to learn something new and an entrepreneurial mind-set.
What are my transport options getting to the event?
By train and tube – Southwark and Elephant & Castle stations are a 5 minute walk from LSBU’s campus. We do not offer parking. See a map of LSBU’s campus.
Do I have to bring a printed ticket to the event?
No – please turn up at the room and address specified on the events page and give your name to the staff member at the registration desk
