Women & HIV
This half-day course will help you understand and respond to the particular needs of women who are most at risk of HIV infection. In this course we will explore issues around biological risks to HIV, sexual assault, violence, HIV disclosure, breastfeeding, childbirth and more. Together we develop creative solutions to support women through complex issues such as condom negotiation and infant feeding. We will look at HIV prevelance among women and consider ways to support high-risk groups. Up-to-date information about testing, treatment and prevention technologies will also be provided. This course will improve your skills and knowledge of how to support women who are living with or at risk of HIV.
Who for the course is for
This course is designed for all levels of knowledge including anyone new to learning about HIV. This course may be particularly pertinent for people working with at-risk or vulnerable women, such as women with addictions, mental health issues, exposure to trauma, violence or sexual assault, BME populations, and refugees. The information will also be relevant to those who support women living with HIV, especially women who are pregnant or nursing.
Participants will recieve a certificate of attendance upon completion. Light refreshments will be available, however lunch is not provided.
