The women in agriculture November event will focus on helping others within the sector share new insight, knowledge and business growth.

About this Event

Women in Agriculture - You Don't Know What You Don't Know

This year the November event will be hosting some fantastic speakers that will be able to shed some light on untapped areas within the agriculture sector. With a focus on succession planing, rural economy, insight from personal experience of running a business and networking support.

Our speakers will consist of;

Gillespie Macandrew - Eilidh Adams who specialises in tax and succession planning will be leading a talk on the importance of long term planing for families and future generations.

Emily Norton - The head of rural research at Savills, a recent appointee as a director of The Oxford Farming Conference and a Nuffield Scholar 2018. Emily has the back ground and experiance to share her expertise on the farming economy.

Katy Rodgers - runs Knockraich farm from Stirlingshire, a successful dairy farm that it well known for the produce of artisan yogurts and ice cream and being nominated for Best Product at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2012. Knockraich farm is also home to a café, acts as a wedding venue, accommodation and home furnishings – a fully diversified businesses.

Business Gateway - A networking support delivered by Fraser McKee who will share his experience on setting up rural businesses. Fraser will talk about the wide range of accessibility to online resources and workshops to help build a business.

Lynne Cadenhead - Chair of Women's Enterprise Scotland. Lynne is here to inspire women within business and show the economic value and support for women led businesses.

The event is open to anyone within the agriculture sector and in particular those that are looking to broaden their knowledge within the industry.

For women working in Scottish agriculture, our events are an excellent opportunity to network, to share experiences and to exchange ideas.

The programme for the day;

10:30am - Registration with tea and coffee

11:00am - Welcome & Introduction to the day

11:05am Professor Lynne Cadenhead, Visiting Professor in Governance and Enterprise Edinburgh Napier University; Chair, Women’s Enterprise Scotland (CIC)

11.20am - Succession Planning lead by Eilidh Adams from Gillespie Macandrew

11:40am - Sourcing help by Fraser McKee, Senior Growth Advisor, Business Gateway Fife

12:15pm - Networking lunch

1.15pm - Emily Norton giving an insight in the to rural economy.

1.45pm - Katy Rodger owner of Knockraich farm discussing the challanges she faced.

2:00pm - Summing Up followed by tea and coffee

The Women in Agriculture Scotland committee comprises representatives from RHASS, Royal Bank of Scotland, SAOS, SAYFC, RSABI, Scotland’s Rural College, NFUS, Savills and WES to support women across rural Scotland, allowing them to share experiences of land-based industries; seek advice and skills-based learning and access networking and peer group support.
