About this event

Join debut novelist Francesca de Tores (Saltblood), Sunday Times bestselling author Elodie Harper (The Wolf Den trilogy), and award-winner Anna Mazzola (The Book of Secrets) as they celebrate the publication of Saltblood by discussing writing historical fiction centered around the experiences of women from the past. Whether exploring the Golden Age of Piracy, the dangerous world of 17th century Italy, or bustling life in Ancient Pompeii, these authors have brought the lives of women from history to the page, detailing the struggles they faced and the dreams they pursued.

Francesca de Tores is a novelist, poet and academic. She is the author of four previous novels, published in more than 20 languages. In addition to a collection of poems, her poetry is widely published in journals and anthologies. Saltblood is her first historical novel.

Elodie Harper is a journalist and bestselling author. She is currently a reporter at ITV News Anglia, and before that worked as a producer for Channel 4 News. The Temple of Fortuna is the final book in her bestselling Wolf Den trilogy. The first book, The Wolf Den, was a Waterstones Book of the Month and a Sunday Times Top 15 bestseller, and the second, The House with the Golden Door was a Sunday Times Top 10 bestseller.

Anna Mazzola is the award winning author of five historical crime or Gothic novels. Her books explore the impact of crime and injustice and her influence include Daphne du Maurier, Shirley Jackson and Sarah Waters.
