SPE YP London is Pleased to host Women in STEM - Leadership discussion in collaboration with SPE Diversity & Inclusion


Sharon Howe: VP digital services and innovation at CGGSharon is VP for Digital Services and Innovation at CGG. She has 25 years of experience in the Energy industry. She started her career as a geophysicist and subsequently taken on various technical and business leadership roles within subsurface imaging and then in integrated geoscience. Based in the UK, her current focus is on leading digital businesses including CGG Cloud & HPC, AI & ML Labs as well as software & training.

Clara Altobell: VP ESG and business innovation at Serica Energy plc

Clara Altobell is Vice President for ESG and Business Innovation at Serica Energy.    She has twenty-five years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, starting out as a petroleum engineer, working globally and managing different aspects of the industry. Recently her focus has been closer to home in the UK North Sea, with Serica’s acquisitions of the Erskine, Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields. With her role in ESG and business innovations, Clara is now helping to steer Serica through the energy transition.  Clara holds an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College, London and is a fellow of the Energy Institute.

Patricia Vega: President and CEO at Quantum new energy

Patricia Vega is the CEO and founder of Quantum New Energy. Patricia has more than 25 years of global experience developing innovative enterprise solutions for some of the world`s largest energy and industrial customers. Before founding Quantum New Energy, Patricia served as Global President of Evaluation & Optimization for GE, President of GE Oil & Gas Latin America and was a member of GE’s Regional Board of Directors. Prior to joining GE, Patricia had a progressive multidisciplinary career with Baker Hughes and Halliburton. She began her career as a field engineer with BP and Schlumberger.

Eleanor Rowley: Managing director Egypt at Cairn Energy plc.

Eleanor studied Earth Sciences at Oxford University and then completed a PhD at Cambridge University. Since joining the oil industry in 1999 she has worked for 2 super majors – Shell and Total, as well as three smaller companies BHP Billiton, Cairn and Dana Gas in a number of exploration and development technical and management roles. She recently left Total after spending 5.5 years as their VP Exploration for the MENA and Caspian Southern Europe and has returned to Cairn to lead their new country entry into Egypt, as the Egypt Managing Director.


Zahraa Alkalby: Reservoir engineer at Total Energies and SPE D&I chair.

Zahraa is a Petroleum Engineer with five years of experience working in the oil & energy industry on a variety of operational projects. She holds MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management from Heriot-Watt University and MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London. She is an active member of SPE International and held several volunteering positions within SPE on local and International Levels.

She is a strong advocate for Diversity and Inclusion, expanding her efforts from advocating for gender diversity serving in Women in Energy International Committee in SPE into the international scheme of Diversity and Inclusion. She is the 2020 recipient of the Society of Petroleum Engineers North Sea Young Member Outstanding Service Award.
