Description

IStructE and WES are pleased to offer a joint presentation exploring the vital role of women in structural engineering, past, present and future.

Rebecca will introduce the evening discussing the current state of play for women in engineering, the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), and the work they do.

Nina will present on the contribution that women have made to the field of structrual engineering over the years (including the Brooklyn Bridge among other notable projects) and will introduce you to some structural engineers whom you may or may not know!

Rebecca has worked in a variety of different engineering fields. As a student she worked in both the Oil and Gas industry and the Renewables industry. Since Graduation she has moved into Property and Construction where she now works as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer. In her spare time, she is the Scotland Cluster Coordinator for WES, Vice-Chair for CIBSE YEN in Scotland and also leads the Education and Careers group for CIBSE Scotland.

Nina has had a varied career – she has been a merchant navy deck officer, and a politician, among other things. In retirement she is focussing on the stories of women engineers in the minds of the general public.
