An exciting full day event celebrating women in surgery to be held at the RCSEd. Supported by the Royal College of Surgeons England.

About this Event

KEY NOTE SPEAKER: DAME CLARE MARX, current Chair of the GMC and past president of the Royal College of Surgeons of England; the first woman to have held either role.

Abstract submissions welcomed for poster presentation. The top two submissions will be invited to give an oral presentation at the event. Abstract submisssion instructions as follow.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

• Abstracts are invited for original research, QI projects and audit work relevant to surgery for poster presentation.

• Abstracts must be submitted by 13th May 2019 with notification of acceptance or rejection being sent to submitting authors by the 17th May 2019.

• Those delegates submitting the top two abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation on the day with the best presentation being awarded the ‘Marx Prize’.

• There must be at least one author registered and in attendance on the day to display posters.

• Abstracts must be typed in font size 11, single spaced on one page laid out as follows: Title, Authors, Text

• You must indicate the name of the institution where the work was carried out

• Text to include: Background/Introduction, Objectives/Aim, Methods, Results and Discussion. Word limit must not exceed 250.

• All abbreviations must be defined in their first use.

• References should be listed numerically in the text and then placed at the bottom of the text using Vancouver format.

• Delegates are required to print their posters ahead of time and display them from 9am until the close of the day.

• Posters displayed to be size A1 (84cm x 60cm)

Abstracts that do not meet the above requirements will not be accepted
