Description

Join the National Maritime Museum for an intersectional approach to celebrating Women’s contributions to maritime history over a series of lunch time talks and activities throughout March.

Week 1 | Encounters in the Polar Regions

The first event in the series will focus on the legacies and contemporary understandings of women in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Morgan Seag, Scott Polar Research Institute, will be speaking on Equal Opportunities on Ice: The fight for women’s equality in Antarctic Science.

Photographer, Evgenia Arbugaeva, will be presenting her project on human stories attached to the Russian Arctic shore.

Claire Warrior, Senior Exhibitions Interpretation Curator RMG, will be speaking about the remarkable history of Jane Franklin.

Dance Artist, Bethan Peters, will round off the afternoon with an interactive dance workshop inspired by her trips to the Polar Regions.
