Women of WW1 is a powerful and moving portrait of women's lives created by Musicians South West, in collaboration with Petra Schofield/Magic Penny Productions.
Poetry and prose extracts from letters, diaries and autobiographies are brought to life with a slide show of contemporary images and music for piano and stringed instruments written by female composers of the era.
Letters to loved ones, heartfelt poems, memoirs and diaries of nurses are matched with music by Rebecca Clarke, Nadia and Lili Boulanger and the recently 'rediscovered' songwriter, Muriel Herbert.
The performance is free - donations welcome - and preceded by a free workshop, at 2.30-4pm, in which participants will find out more about the lives of women featured in Women of WW1, perform some of the extracts, and learn two contrasting songs: a Suffragette march and a gentle lament for those who died.
