Women On Wheels events are mass participation female only rides, usually raising money for a local charity, that put a strong focus on the fun, friendly and inclusive aspects of cycling. They are very much aimed at non-cyclists and existing cyclists alike, with routes of an achievable distance, and are open to all ages and abilities, from 0 to 80+.
Do you have a dusty bike in your garden shed, or want to get on a bike for the first time in ages? If the answer is yes, this is the event for you!
One of the most fulfilling things about WoW events is seeing the joy on the faces of the women and girls taking part, often rediscovering the pleasure of being on a bike, and this is reflected in many of the testimonials.
“Wow, what a fantastic event. Well organised, lovely weather, a few hills but loads of cake. We will be back.”
“Amazing day, superb organisation, so friendly.”
“Fantastic event, great route, good opportunity to meet other ladies. Thank you for the goody bag.”
Women On Wheels Rendlesham is a new addition to the calender and entrants will be raising money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The 5km route is on the MOD Woodbridge Runway, a very unique experience. If you feel like a challenge, see how many laps of the route you can do. Any type of bike can be used.
The 15 mile route uses MOD Woodbridge Runway, the perimeter fence, then goes in to Rendlesham Forest and finishes back on the runway. Off road bikes are recommended.
The 5km route costs £5 and the 15 mile route costs £15. Under 16's are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
There is a small fee payable to event brite for the service, 5km route £0.90 and the 15 mile route £1.52, all other monies will go to the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal.
The Royal British Legion provides help and welfare to the serving and ex-Service community and their families, is one of the UK's largest membership organisations, is the nation's custodian of Remembrance and runs the annual Poppy Appeal. www.britishlegion.org.uk www.poppyshop.org.uk
