Women Walking Women Talking - 21 April 2017
Fri 21 April 2017, 10:30 – 15:00 BST
Women excel at building relationships, at looking after others and in doing so, they are great at talking.
Women Walking:Women Talking is a great opportunity to do just that once a month. It’s a day of investing in you, your health and wellbeing; of putting yourself first and as the opportunity arises, doing business in a different way! But you don’t have to be a business woman – you can be a woman who enjoys the company of other women, a woman who has chosen to take a day out from her job to look after herself, a mum who is child free for a time and choosing to spend her day in this way.
Walking is a wonderful way to get some exercise, to see a new part of a city of a corner of the countryside. It’s a wonderful way to socialise and to network too. When you’re walking you don’t need to keep eye contact and this can be very useful when challending and difficult conversations are taking place. In all my years of walking with women I have observed the most frivilous and lighthearted conversations one moment and the next a very deep and serious discussion the next. Walking allows all of that.
At the end of the day you’ll –
come away refreshed and with a clearer head having had a day in the fresh air
you’ll have met great women
you’ll have chatted and shared and learnt
you’ll have enjoyed coffee and lunch stops and perhaps an after walk drink
you’ll feel energised and exercised
you’ll be looking for the date of the next event..
Bring your camera, bring your business cards. Wear walking gear and trainers or walking shoes/boots. Prepare to explore and have fun.
This is time and space for you and it’s going to happen once a month.
I am delighted to announce that Women Walking:Women Talking has reached its first birthday! Yes, it’s a whole year since our very first walk in April 2016 and we are going to celebrate by re-treading our steps from our inaugural walk, through many green spaces, all good for the soul. I have walked this path so many times and I never fail to tire of it, so if you were there last year, do join us again, there may be some slight changes or perhaps you'll be so busy talking you won't even notice.
A year in, it's also the time to change the name of this group because a new website for my work is underway and my business name is changing to Women Walking, Women Talking. There will be more news on this in a few weeks. The group will from now on be known as Netwalking Women. It may take you a little while to get used to it and let me reassure you that nothing else will change. The walks will remain fun, chatty, full of laughter and wonderful women.
So let me remind those who have been before and inform those who are new that on this walk we'll meet at East Finchley tube station to start walking at 10.30 and the walk which is about 7.5 miles will take us into Highgate Woods and at different stages through Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Regents Park, Hyde Park etc. and will finish at either Westminster or the South Bank. There will be coffee and lunch stops and coffee or wine or whatever at the end so bring money to cover your preferences. There will be opt out points in case you need to get back for children or to leave early but I hope as much as possible that you will give yourself the gift of the day.
This is not a route march but I would hope that you will feel that you are exercising but not so much that you cannot hold a conversation.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and dress in layers then you can take on or off as the temperature dictates.
There will be birthday surprises during the walk, I hope you can make it!
