Miranda Hurst: Journalist and News Producer

Miranda Hurst has more than 25 years of experience as a journalist for the BBC. She’s worked across television, radio and online. She spent 11 years in London working for BBC World News, the BBC’s international 24 hour television news channel, where she ran the newsdesk, overseeing 8 hours of live broadcasting a day and serving audiences of 110 million people every week. She also worked on the main television results programmes for the UK General Elections in 2015 and 2017, and the Scottish independence referendum. Before that she spent 13 years with BBC Scotland, covering the Scottish Parliament and Scottish politics in Westminster and the European Parliament. She’s also a video journalist, and has produced reports from across Scotland, Spain and Germany. Miranda is a Journalism lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University.

Shruti Rao: Television Producer and Director

Shruti is a Glasgow based television producer and director. She has produced Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out (BBC), It’s Me or the Dog (channel 4/Discovery) Inside Central Station (BBC Scotland), and directed Class of Mum and Dad and Phil Spencer’s History of Britain Inside 100 Homes.

Eirene Wallace: Assistant Editor

Eirene is a Scottish Assistant Editor based in London. Since starting her career as an Editorial Trainee on Outlander (Starz TV) she has worked on a range of High End TV and feature films including Warner Bros’ Batgirl and Then You Run (Sky). Eirene is currently working on the critically acclaimed Apple TV series, Slow Horse starring Gary Oldman. Eirene has edited several short films which have screened at Glasgow Film Festival, Edinburgh International film Festival, Dinard film Festival and London Supershorts. Eirene graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2015 with a First class degree in BA(Hons) English and Film.

Nas Saraei: Writer & Director

Nas was selected for The BBC Writers room Scottish Voices 2020, and was recently commissioned for BBC Short Stuff. She was selected for The Young Film Foundation 2021/22- receiving a commission for a 60-minute pilot for BBC Drama. She wrote, produced and directed the short films ‘Is This It?’- screened at Glasgow Short Film Festival 2018 and winner of Best Film at Girls on Film 2018, and ‘Hearts’- screened at The Scottish Queer International Film Festival 2018, The Scottish Short Film Festival 2019 and winner of Campbell X's Wahala Film Fund. Nas was selected for Hit the Ground Running and the Screenskills HETV Production Trainee Scheme which led to runner jobs The Origin, ITV Shetland, and Amazon's The Rig. Nas is a graduate of Edinburgh Napier BA (Hons) Film, from which she graduated in 2017 with First Class honours.
