Come along to @WomenEdJersey's inaugural event, which brings together existing and aspiring female educationalists in Jersey.

About this Event

Our first #Leadmeet aims to introduce @WomenEdJersey and establish a network of current and aspiring female leaders, who wish to connect, collaborate and form a community of supportive individuals. We are part of the global #WomenEd community, which connects, supports and empowers women leaders in education.

We are very excited to have Mary Myatt, former headteacher, educationalist, speaker and author ( www.marymyatt.com) introducing the event, along with current leaders from Jersey and off-island

Programme

5pm: Arrival and welcome drinks in the De Quetville Library. Attendees can select which workshop they would like to attend at this point.

5.15pm: Introduction and welcome from Parm Plummer, Network Leader of @WomenEdJersey (@parmplummer) followed by:

Keynote speech from Mary Myatt (@marymyatt)

Mary Myatt is an education adviser, writer and speaker. She trained as an RE teacher and also taught English, history, maths and Latin. A former local authority adviser and inspector, she works in schools talking to pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. She maintains there are no quick fixes and that great outcomes for pupils are not achieved through tick boxes. Mary writes and speaks at conferences about leadership, curriculum and school improvement. Her latest books include Curriculum: Gallimaufry to coherence, Hopeful Schools: Building humane communities and High Challenge, Low Threat.

6pm: Workshops including moving from middle to senior leadership led by Clemmie Stewart (@CStewartSHS), developing leadership in others, The Jersey gender perspective and more to be confirmed.

6.30pm: Sarah Hague will talk about her leadership journey.

Sarah is headteacher at Les Quennevais School, an 11-16 school that has been on a significant journey and will soon be moving to their brand new school building. Sarah will share the how and why of her leadership journey.
