Event description
The Spanish chapter of #WomenEd is here: a global, grassroots movement which connects existing and aspiring leaders in education.

About this Event

To celebrate the launch in Spain of #WomenEd, we warmly invite you to a morning conference (10am-1pm) aimed at educators and supporters from schools & universities from all parts of the country to connect and support one another in leadership and parity for women working in education.

Even though women dominate the workforce across all sectors of education there still remain gender inequalities, particularly at senior leadership level. We ask our community to be #10%braver and to be a network of champions for one another as well as providing one another support friendship and the tools to innovate!

10:45h Standing Up to Stand Out: Paving the Way for Inclusive Leadership

Professor Jessica D Tollette, Behaviour & Social Sciences, IE University

For most of history, women have been asked to be quiet, blend in and behave. However, in recent years we have seen a major shift in the expectations and possibilities of women leaders. Sharyl Sandberg has encouraged us to “lean in” and, today, I am asking each of us to stand up and to stand out. In my experience, inclusive leadership starts with women creating a seat for themselves at the table. It is about stepping into an unfamiliar space, perhaps where there is no one else that looks or thinks like you and joining the conversation with bravery, empathy and compassion, towards yourself and others. Please join me for my talk where I share my journey and best practices for more inclusive leadership in the increasingly diverse education sector.

11:15h Innovating towards a new sixth form school model in Spain / La implementación de un modelo específico de “Sixth Form" en España

Consuelo Barrera Ocón & Patricia Motilla Bonias, Fundadoras Six 21

1. The keys to effective and conscious leadership

Natalia Geiger, Transpersonal Coach for Leaders

Natalia will give practical tips on how to ensure you lead with effectiveness and consciousness of your own needs and those of others in your team, while contributing to the creation of a better world.

2. Mindfulness in Teaching for Educators and Students

Lucy Beckwith, LearnLife - Yoga & Mindfulness Instructor

As a mother and yoga teacher of all ages and abilities for over 15 years, Lucy knows first-hand the transformative and healing qualities of a well-being practice. Service to others also implies the importance of service to oneself. As we begin to transform through a well-being practice, our lives, work relationships and creativity begins to flourish and heal, allowing ourselves to be of more service to those around us. We learn to soften in the midst of conflict, we learn to let go and understand the power of deep rest on the inside as a result of being in the present moment without resistance. Keeping ourselves well and inspired ultimately keeps those around us inspired and well.

3. From impostor syndrome to happy high confidence

Antonia Spinks, CEO - Pioneer Educational Trust

We all suffer from a lack of confidence at times and, in schools, this can be challenging. Whether this is in taking an assembly, delivering CPDL, leading your team or just interacting with young people or parents, this session will hopefully provide you with (not necessarily the tools but) the mind-set to rid yourself of imposter syndrome and move to ‘happy high confidence’.

4. Employment law in Spain and what your rights are
