About this event

Health • Mental health

We are inviting women to come and spend some time in nature together. Inviting you to slow down and make some time for yourself, surrounded by trees and bird song (but within a short walk of our cafe and toilets)! Sound good? Then read on!

Location: The course is being held at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, CV3 3GW. There is plenty of free parking on site. We will be based around a small camp fire, under a tarpaulin roof. There will be garden chairs, camping chairs, logs or blankets for you to choose as your seating.

Times: The session will run from 11am - 2.30pm (3.5 hours). This is to try and allow for any caring responsibilities.

What we will be doing: Led by two experienced female staff, you will be able to try a range of bush craft skills including traditional fire lighting, bushcraft knife skills, shelter building and woodland crafts.

What is the group like: Everyone will be new to the group and there maybe a range of experience across the attendees. You don't need to have done anything like this before to take part - begineers are encouarged! We will guide you every step of the way, provide all the equipment and materials, and let you work at your own pace. The maximum group size will be 15 people, plus two staff.

What to bring: We will provide bottomless tea, coffee, biscuits and some fruit. We ask that you bring a packed lunch (or you can use the on site cafe, but you will need to pre-order on arrival so it is ready for you to collect at lunch time). Also please bring a cold drink, sun cream and insect spray may be useful.

What to wear: The site can be muddy in wet weather. So we suggest old trainers, wellies or walking boots for your feet. And clothes you don't mind getting mucky! Layers are always best, as you can remove or add as the weather conditions change.

Weather: We do not cancel sessions for rain, cooler or warmer temperatures (unless deemed a risk to health) - so please be preapred to be out in whatever the British weather gives us! (see below for T&C around cancellations due to weather). We have a shelter to keep us as dry as possible in the event of heavy down pours.

Still not sure: If you are interested but still have some questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with Kirsty Hawkes. Kirsty will be leading the day and can answer most queries:

Email: kirsty.hawkes@wkwt.org.uk

Call, text or whatsapp: 07587550075

What happens after I book: We will get in touch with you directly with more information about the day, a reminder of what is covered above for you and our bookings and cancellation policy.

What are the Terms and Conditions:

We are out in all weathers. We will not cancel the event if it is raining, or cooler temperatures - so please note that when booking. There are some weather events that may lead to us having to cancel the event which include; high winds, thunder and lightening, extreme temperatures. If we cancel the event for any reason you will receive a full refund.

Up to 7 days before the course, you can cancel your booking and receive a full refund.

Up to 3 days before the course, you can cancel your booking and receive a 50% refund. This cancellation needs to be done before 5pm on Thursday 18th September.
