About this event
- Event lasts 1 hour
This is a special session for women held in the wonderful Stambourne Woods, a hidden oasis in Crystal Palace. The small group is guided and will involve aspects of mindfulness, meditation and "forest bathing" to relax and connect.
Forest bathing is the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, which is simply walking slowly in nature (no water involved!)
You are invited to join this friendly group of women as we explore different ways to increase resilience, stress relief and relaxation in order to manage life’s challenges more smoothly.
Suitable for women who have tried (and given up) a meditation practice or eshew self-care or who just want to join a friendly, supportive group.
About Vanessa
After studying, researching and teaching a wide variety of meditation practices (both secular and nonsecular) Vanessa has a flexible, bespoke approach to 'training the mind'. Meditation is not 'one size fits all' ! We are all different, so what is right for one woman, may not be right for another. She will walk you through a variety of different practices so you can explore (the very different ways) in which we can help ourselves live calmer, more focused and connected lives.
Vanessa incorporates nature connection as a means to improve well-being and teaches the art of 'ParkBathing' (a guided, shorter version of forest bathing) Vanessa is the founder of ParkBathe, a community led green health project that has taken 1000 people on forest bathign walks in local parks.
Please arrive 5 mins before the session starts. When you sign up you will be sent meeting details.

TESTIMONIALS:
I have done some meditation by myself before, but have never managed to make it a regular practice. Having a local group to go to means I am more successful in making time regularly to meditate, and the sessions teach me aspects I would not learn by myself. Vanessa provides a supportive and welcoming atmosphere and her guided meditations have made me generally calmer and less anxious. The fact that I can walk through the park to attend, adds to the experience. I don’t manage to attend every week due to work commitments, but always feel better when I do. I hope the group continues as it is a unique local resource that obviously benefits the wellbeing of everyone who attends.
I’ve been attending the Friday morning meditation sessions for some time now and they’re such a life line. At the end of the week, this little retreat provides a safe haven in the middle of CP park. Great facilities/ambience/location - it’s amazing to be immersed in nature both before and after the session - a perfect transition into the busy outside world. Thank you for hosting us, much appreciated!
I regularly attend the Meditation session on Fridays at the resources centre in Crystal palace park. It is a lovely place to have the class and I enjoy meeting up with Vanessa and the other ladies every week. The session have helped me overcome numerous personal challenges that I have endured over the past few years including the pandemic, without them my anxiety levels would be through the roof.

While meditations can be a suitable relaxation, de-stressing or reflective mind tool for many people, it doesn't suit everyone. If you have any health concerns or are not sure please consult your doctor or health provider to make sure meditation is suitable for your needs.
