Women's Heritage Canoe Trail
Sat 1 July 2017, 09:30 – 12:30 BST
Be bold …. learn something new ……. canoeing along the fantastic heritage trail on the Caldon Canal.
As part of the activities for the International Women's Day organised by the Stoke and North Staffs Women's Network and as an extension on this year's leitmotif "Be Bold for change", we want to encourage all women to become active and involved on a rewarding challenge, and this is a great opportunity for women to try canoeing.
Starting at Northwood Stadium, bridge 13 and paddling to Hanley Park, this will be a guided activity with a pre-planned safe stopping points. All necesary equipments will be provided by Stoke-On-Trent City Council Leisure Services.
You can expect to see the remarkable Caldon Canal as is skirts around Hanley, past traditional and modern homes, taking in historic factories and iconic bottle ovens, a unique lifting bridge, an unusual lock and the Victorian splendor of Hanley Park.
We will stop for a complimentary hot drink at the Emma Bridgewater Factory, a traditional Victorian pot bank alongside the canal. The site first opened by the Meakin brothers in 1883.
