About this event

The Mayor and the West Midlands Night Time Economy Advisor, Alex Claridge, invite you to join us at the launch event of the Women's Night Safety Charter.

The launch event will consist of a variety of panel discussions, training sessions, experiential activites, and stalls from various training providers.

There will be two training sessions available on the evening:

  • Active Bystander Training, delivered by the Hollie Gazzard Trust (this will be approximately 45 minutes long)
  • Implementing Safety Policies In Your Business, delivered by SaferDance (this will be approximately 30 minutes long, and will run twice during the event)

There will also be stalls from organisations that will be able to provide help and support to improve night time safety:

More information regarding the panel discussions will be confirmed nearer the date of the event.

The West Midlands is home to a thriving night-time economy. Hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors enjoy our rich cultural and entertainment offers, and tens of thousands make their living working predominantly after 6pm.

However, we know that a night out or working in the night-time economy can be a source of great anxiety for female residents and visitors, with the majority of women surveyed having experienced some form of sexual harassment.

We are determined to ensure that the West Midlands is a region where all women and girls feel confident and welcome at night whether on our streets, our public transport or inside our night-time economy venues.

You can read more about the Women's Night Safety Charter on the WMCA website, as well as signing up to the charter too.
