Description

Workshop

Come to this workshop to learn more about the ways that women, and men who supported the fight for votes for women, interacted with the state.

With tuition from experts from The National Archives, you will be given the opportunity to practise archival skills, investigating primary sources to gain historical insight.

Following the session with original documents, you will have the chance to tour our new exhibition, Suffragettes vs. the State.

Workshop programme

10:30 Introduction to The National Archives and our collections relating to the women’s suffrage movement

10:45 Investigate a document in small groups to discover what the document is, why it was created, and what it tells us about how suffragettes interacted with the state

11:00 Original document analysis - you will have the opportunity to analyse several documents from our collection in order to build up a picture of the ways in which suffragettes interacted with the state

11:45 Break

12:00 Showcase of other women’s suffrage related documents

12:30 Tour of our exhibition Suffragettes Vs. the State
