About this Event

Wonderful Walks presents: Reawaken the Trees

Explore what West Yorkshire has to offer: Visit long-forgotten historic buildings, learn to identify the variety of trees and sing some beautiful seasonal songs. All in the stunning setting of the surrounding moors and woodlands.

We will start off at Whiteley Royd Barn with stunning views overlooking Stoodley Pike from the other side of the valley. Under the guidance of experienced singing leader Ailsa Nicholson will learn some seasonal and regional songs. Tree expert Barbara Brannigan will run through winter tree ID in the warm, fuelled by hot brews. After we have enjoyed lunch we will set off at about 1.15pm on our walk.*

Ailsa Nicholson is a dynamic, experienced choral director, singer and vocal tutor with a passion for getting singers of all abilities together to immerse themselves in the wonders of a cappella (unaccompanied) harmony singing. Having spent much of her life in the countryside Ailsa is keen to combine her passions for being out in nature and singing. For more information about Ailsa please see her website: www.ailsanicholson.co.uk or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Ailsaannemusic/

Barbara Brannigan is a qualified Forest School leader, has worked for the Educational Charity Countryside Learning for 20 years and has also worked for The Royal Forestry Society and enjoys educating primary children in the woods in a fun and hands-on way. Barbara loves singing in harmony and has been in several choirs. She currently sings in Ailsa’s choir Vocal Highs.
