Event description
Join local artist Faith Bebbington and create wonderful flowers using recycled materials.

About this event

In the UK, we use 5 million tonnes of plastic each year but only a quarter of this is recycled. Faith Bebbington is a renowned, local, visual artist who reuses plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill, to create beautiful creations including animals and flowers. At these workshops, you'll be able to join Faith to use a range of recyclable materials and learn how to repurpose and reuse single use plastics to make beautiful artwork. Come and create giant wildflowers such as forget me nots, cornflowers, poppies and more! The flowers will be displayed at Liverpool Cathedral over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend to bring attention to plastic waste and climate change, and the role we all play in protecting the Earth.

These workshops are generously supported by LCVS Community Impact Fund and the Hemby Trust.

Each family friendly session is free and lasts 2 and a half hours. You may wish to stay even longer and make more flowers! All sessions must be pre-booked and each person attending is required to have a ticket. Sessions start at 10:00am and 1.00pm. Each session starts with an introduction where you will be shown the techniques used to create your giant wildflowers. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Workshops are not limited to families, why not come with a group of friends and spent some time in our beautiful building being creative?

Any colourful plastic carrier bags you could bring would be gratefully received. You could use these bags to bring a foodbank donation to our Micah charity too.

You could also choose to spend the day with us and book places for our family friendly art and craft activities too. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/half-term-family-fun-at-liverpool-cathedral-tickets-333546365157

Please note that we will be following any Government guidelines that are in place at that time regarding hand hygiene, social distancing and mask wearing. If you are feeling unwell or are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 please visit another time.

Bistro Dining

Fancy a light bite or a coffee? Our foodie favourite, the Welsford Bistro is open during visiting hours. Serving scrumptious snacks, light bites and drinks, enjoy the historic atmosphere of the Cathedral when eating in the Welsford Bistro. Or take in the magnificent sight of Gambier Terrace from our Welsford Porch. You can even enjoy your meal in the Cathedral Main Space. Have a look at our menu on our website

Our Cathedral Shop

A great way to remember your visit is to buy something from our Cathedral Shop. And did you know, when you do, you're also preserving your heritage for generations to come? We use the income generated by our shop to help keep the Cathedral free to visitors. Can’t wait until you visit us to see what’s in store? Browse online

Support us

Like many other organisations in the city and beyond, we’re facing an uncertain future. We lost nearly all of our income over the past year, so your donations are especially needed and welcome to help keep entry to Liverpool Cathedral free to visitors. You can donate when you book your visit or by cash or on our portable contactless consoles when you’re in our building. Please give as generously as you can. Find out more about how you can support us on our Donation website pages.
