Event description

Description

Join us for a special two-day workshop at the London Centre for Book Arts in collaboration with St. Judes, taught by renowned artist and print-maker Angie Lewin along with Simon Goode, founding director of LCBA.

Participants in this two-day workshop will have the opportunity to try their hand at both wood engraving and book binding, creating a hardback journal on a theme on their choice.

During the first day participants will create their own wood engraved illustration. Following a look at work by fellow wood engravers and an introduction to the tools and basic techniques involved, participants will get to hone their skills on a practice block before working on their own piece of end-grain wood. The resulting engraved block will be printed in a small edition, either by hand or using the printing presses at LCBA.

The second day will see participants creating a full cloth-covered, hardback journal incorporating their wood engraved print on the cover.
