Event description

Description

Our in-store expert, Jason Bainbridge, will demonstrate how to make classical Japanese joints using Japanese hand saws and chisels.

Japanese saws are made of extremely fine steel and usually have triple ground teeth. Unlike western saws, the Japanese saw is designed to be used on the pull stroke so that the thin blade is cutting in tension. This amazingly fast method of cutting allows for near perfect control, with the ultra-thin cut giving a fast and almost effortless cutting action.
