About this event
Welcome to the Woodbridge ambient music festival and to the home of ambient music, Woodbridge in Suffolk. Come and celebrate a genre of music that has its beginnings in this beautiful town and along the peaceful River Deben. We celebrate every September, on the Autumn Equinox, and welcome visitors from all over the country to a weekend of calm with the ambient community.

This year we are selling weekend passes for just £25 and children under 16 are admitted free with an adult. It’s going to be a jam packed, chilled out three days!
Your weekend pass lets you seamlessly pop into all the events or choose which ones you want to attend - all for one price with one wristband which supports the community festival.

FRIDAY 19th - The Festival opens at 5pm in the Woodbridge Cruising Club on the River Wall with an evening overlooking amazing views of the river at sunset. Live music from cellist Clare O'Connell; Elegy for Good Dogs with Music from old vinyl, tired tapes, field recordings; A Book launch of Suffolk Tales by popular local author Bards Aloud accompanied with music from the Drips; Slow sketching from Rob Fairclough and more surprises - a not to be missed evening overlooking the beautiful river Deben. Pop in between 5-9PM.

EXTRA - 9.00pm The Riverside Cinema will be showing ‘For all Mankind” with music scored by Brian Eno, the father of ambient music, who was born in Woodbridge. The film has a discounted price to WAMF Weekend Pass holders.https://www.theriverside.co.uk/programmes/for-all-mankind/
SATURDAY 20th - We look forward to Saturday morning when Bards Aloud leads the annual ambient river walk. A favourite for musicians, poets and story tellers to celebrate the Spirit of the River by busking along the river banks and discovering the beautiful ambient sounds of the Deben. Meet in Whisstocks Place at 10am before heading off to some of the most peaceful views in Suffolk.
10am Whisstocks Place by the river has ambient DJs Tom Greig, Subskile and live music including Pip Greasley, Tom and Will playing Steve Reich's "Piano Phase" Aartwork and Quay Notes plus children’s events for the whole family in the Longshed at noon.
Stroll up to Market Place where the Ambient label hub will be open in the Shire Hall from 3PM, showcasing some of the best ambient music labels in the UK including Whitelabrecs and Driftworks! New Street Market will be open for lunch with more live ambient and electronic music in the afternoon including Ygdrassil, HardWired, DIgitonal and Sundowners at 6.30PM
7PM St Mary’s Church opens their doors to the annual Tom Rogerson and Friends event. This year Tom has invited special guests Loula York, Laura Cannell, Charlotte Jolly and Will Fergusson plus a return performance from Peter Chilvers and Ted Morcaldi. A not to be missed inspiring evening in store!
SUNDAY 21st - The morning of the autumn equinox will see a beautiful sunrise event with ‘Happily Emma Laughter’ at Kyson Point 7.30am and a walk up to HMS Vale with time to walk around Woodbridge and get some brunch at the many eateries who will be supporting the festival.
12.00 - 3PM “Slow Down Sessions” in New Street Market with with slow music including the beautiful Ambient Chorus, guitarist Chris Burness; slow stitching with Clare Perkins and slow films with Mark C Sargeant - a special music and wellness session.
3pm -10pm Sunday 22nd September at the Angel on Theatre Street. A fabulous 7 hours of music with an AEMOM (Ambient Electronic Music Open Mic) at the Angel on Theatre Street - A very popular event with over 20 performers run by Merlyn Bruce. We welcome back Helder Rock, Anthony Awad, Ambient Abyss, Tristan Burfield, Nick Nicholson, Matt W Rose, Gary James, Perry Frank and more.

If you can't make it we would ask that you consider donating your ticket as this is a small community festival. If you do need a refund the Eventbrite booking fee is non-refundable. Thank you so much!
The Community river walks and Whisstocks Community events are free! Children under 16 are free for all events with an adult.
