The course is a follow up to the Health and Safety Woodwork Level 1 induction. The stool will incorporate the machines covered in the induction to give participants practical experience and build a functional stool at the end of the day.
The stool is made from 18mm birch plywood, to keep the joinery simple yet durable.
Participants will work towards gaining the following skills:
- Roughing out parts from templates at the bandsaw
- Refining profiles at the disk and bobbin sander
- Accurately marking out joinery
- Cutting joinery to fit using machine and hand tools
- Fitting the parts together using dowels and dowel markers
- Sanding the completed stool ready for finish (time permitting)
Every session combines teacher-led demonstrations with 1:1 tuition ensuring everyone is supported according to their individual needs.
YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE H&S Machine Shop Level 1 Induction
The course will be led by Will James, a designer and maker of fine hardwood furniture.
