About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Join us on 15th August from 10 am to 2 pm for an inspiring day of conversation, craft, and community. The event will feature a panel talk with leading voices from the Irish Grown Wool Council (IGWC), alongside an exhibition and live maker demonstrations that highlight the innovative and traditional ways wool is being used across Ireland.

Celebrate the slow, thoughtful processes that underpin strong rural economies, environmental responsibility, and creative expression in wool craft.

Connect with makers, speakers, and fellow attendees, and help shape the conversation around a stronger future for Irish wool.

This event is a part of the Irish Grown Wool Council. Find out more about our vision and aims here.

As part of the Future Island-Island project, researchers Alison Gault and Anna Duffy aim to develop the traceability of wool in collaboration with project partners Donegal Yarns and Ulster Wool. The project explores waste management solutions with the community of Rathlin Island before upscaling these across Northern Ireland, other parts of Ireland, and beyond. In partnership with local industry, this research considers the diverse challenges of managing plastic waste and using organic waste as commodities to manufacture new sustainable materials.[AH/Y003780/1]
