Create your own piece of felted artwork in this half day workshop. Even if you are an absolute beginner, you can create your own artwork made from felting wool fibres.
Suitable for adults and children (8+ and accompanied by an adult).
Known as wet felting you can produce a ‘Wool Painting’
Learn this ancient craft to create your own unique artwork for your home.
Spend 3 hours with Katy and other students to learn all about the basics of wet felting.
Katy will show you her work and explain what to expect from the workshop and the processes we will use.
Katy will teach you, demonstrate and work with you to create a picture of your choice. We will use beautifully soft Merino wool fibres. Wetting the fibres, adding soap and lots of massage agitation, your work will felt together.
Drinks and refreshments included.
All materials supplied - wool tops, threads, yarns, soap and water. Worksheet: Plastic bag to take home your artwork: Reference pictures or bring your own.
Also available - Kits and further guidance on adding detail, using needle felting and stitch work that can be added to your picture, once it has dried.
You can take home your picture or product with you directly after the workshop.
Tutor
Katy Small is your tutor for the workshop. She is a felt artist, maker and teacher who exhibits in Yorkshire and you can find her at many village halls, crafts fairs and festivals. Katy was a secondary school teacher for 24 years before taking the plunge in 2022 to set up her own art and craft business. She is a member of Artists Around Wetherby and the International Feltmakers Association.
