She joined the then-new Ofsted in April 2007 as an assistant divisional manager. This followed 10 months as the lead officer of the Creating New Ofsted programme and her role as an inspection manager at the Adult Learning Inspectorate.

Her other appointments at Ofsted have included:
• regional director, South West, January 2013
• leading on the development of the new Common Inspection Framework launched in September 2012
• divisional manager, February 2010, responsible for inspection policy development in learning and skills including further education, work-based learning and prison education
Lorna previously held senior management positions within primary and post-16 education, including a large FE college. She is a qualified primary school teacher, has a degree in post-compulsory education and a master’s degree in Business Administration.

Rob Kelsall:
Rob is the National Secretary for NAHT covering the areas of Organising and Campaigns.

Mary Myatt:
Curriculum: controversies, concepts and conversations
• There is a renewed focus on the curriculum and we will consider how leaders make sure that they can answer the questions of their curriculum intent, implementation and impact
• We will consider some of the reasons for reviewing a curriculum to ensure that it is sufficiently broad and balanced for all pupils
• Pupils are asking for more demanding work. The principles of high challenge, low threat can achieve this when we take account of the findings from cognitive science.
Mary Myatt is an education adviser, writer and speaker. She trained as an RE teacher and has also taught English, history, maths and Latin. A former local authority adviser and inspector, she works in schools talking to pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. She maintains that there are no quick fixes and that great outcomes for pupils are not achieved through tick boxes. Mary writes and speaks at conferences about leadership, curriculum and school improvement.
