About this event

‘Here and There’ brings young people together for a conversation with locally sourced materials. You’ll go home with a stool you’ve made, know how to repair it, and where it has come from. It’s your piece of ‘here’ to take ‘there’ – wherever that might be.

No experience required – get hands-on and build a stool in a day!

In this special session, Darcy Emery and WoRD will share with you the skills to make your own reclaimed timber stool in just a day. You can Learn more about the Here and there workshop here.

Suitable for ages 18 - 25.

All materials provided, but please bring any scrap fabric you’d like to use for your stool.

PPE provided. Enclosed footwear must be worn.

The GED is an outdoor space, so bring weather-appropriate clothing!

There will also be a short lunch break at 2pm so please bring some lunch with you.

Workshop starts at 12pm sharp - please arrive on-time to begin!

See you there!

Our Ticket System:

WoRD delivers accessible woodworking workshops to people traditionally excluded from carpentry spaces and those who face barriers to access.

We are committed to delivering accessible woodworking workshops to everyone, regardless of what they can afford.

To do this, we have sliding-scale tickets to make sure everyone can join in.

Where your ticket fee goes:

We pay all our team fair rates, and contribute to the venues that host us. Our workshops cost over £900 to run. Your ticket goes towards covering the costs of sessions and funding future workshops, meaning we can keep local people employed, rescue more timber from waste, and offer skill sharing to as many people as possible.

If you can afford to, please purchase a ticket according to our sliding scale:

£65 - a subsidised place, made possible through donations and grant funding

£85 - covers the cost of your attendance

£100 - covers the cost of your attendance, and part of someone else’s

DISCOUNTED PLACE - We reserve a number of accessible places for people who may face a financial barrier to learning. If this is you, please get in touch, and we can offer a further dicount on the ticket price.

About WoRD:

Since 2022, The Woodshop of Recycled Delights CIC has been addressing the pressing issue of wood waste while harnessing its potential.

We empower people to up-cycle waste wood, get involved in their local green spaces, share resources and keep making. We do this by teaching woodworking workshops, creating volunteering opportunities, and constructing sustainable timber infrastructure for community projects across London. We're passionate about supporting people to make whatever they want out of reclaimed material, and the possibilities are truly endless.

We take a co-learning approach, so whilst our facilitators are experienced, they are not experts. Together we can work out how to make or fix things using reclaimed materials.
