WORDS ALOUD - HOSTED BY RACHEL SAMBROOKS

Sutton Central Library Community Space

Sutton’s own monthly Spoken Word open mic returns with an afternoon of experimental storytelling and poetry, with an opportunity for you to share or just come along and enjoy.

September's event sees Words Aloud hosting the She Grrrowls Book Tour with wonderful special guests! Don't wait to book a slot, message and be part of a brilliant event.

She Grrrowls Book Tour

As a kind of live literature, the book is brought to life on stage, as would be expected with a recording musician performing live. Poetry is the genre of literature featured in the anthology, with some poets delivering work in a spoken word style, with others giving a standard reading of the work. The show begins with a communal “growl” sound, as audience members unite in a powerful yet jovial spot of audience participation. Two/three poets will deliver a mixture of material read from the anthology and other poetry that will complement this work thematically. The show runs for approximately an hour, with each show date incorporating different elements in addition to this, such as an open mic and/or a local feature poet, and/or Q&A section, where poets take questions from the audience.

Ages Adult. Cost: Free. Potential performers, please book in advance wordsflyer@gmail.com
