About this event

We are delighted to welcome John Sutherland and Abir Mukherjee here at Hatchards this evening to discuss their thrilling new novels:

John Sutherland: The Castle

When an old friend invites Alex and Pip up to the Scottish Highlands for an extended break, they jump at the chance. It's the rest they both need. But soon after they arrive at the castle, they hear the sound of gunshots, and their perfect escape turns into a perfect nightmare. The remote mountainous landscape is now the setting for a terrifying kidnap plot targeting one of the other guests. In the desperate hours that follow, Alex and Pip must call on all their years of negotiating experience to keep everyone alive...

Abir Mukherjee: The Burning Grounds

In the Burning Ghats of Calcutta where the dead are laid to rest, a man is found murdered, his throat cut from ear to ear. The body is that of a popular patron of the arts, a man who was, by all accounts, beloved by all: so what was the motive for his murder? Despite being out of favour with the Imperial Police Force, Detective Sam Wyndham is assigned to the case and finds himself thrust into the glamorous world of Indian cinema.

We hope you will be able to join us for a classic Hatchards evening of words and whisky!
